Curtain Call Recap

“Dear Theodosia,”

You definitely wanted to be “Someone in the Crowd” when Curtain Call was “Opening Up” in their Cabaret this weekend.

“Sincerely,

Me”

Curtain Call’s endless efforts to learn and grow this year were on full display this weekend in Lynchburg College’s Dillard Theatre for their March Cabaret. They showcased four musicals, which included the movie hit La La Land, and the widely known musical productions of Hamilton, Waitress, and Dear Evan Hansen.

My favorite aspect of the Cabaret was its commitment to featuring each student. As an audience member you were able to learn more about each individual ensemble member and their style of performing. One of my theatre mentors Terrence Mann taught me about the importance of ensemble and how every actor has to look out for their fellow cast mates. You can tell Curtain Call practices this idea. Even if it wasn’t a specific actor’s starring number they were all in.

There were so many standout out performances within the show I cannot pick a favorite. Instead I’d like to pass along three pieces of advice I’ve learned from fantastic teachers, mentors, and friends.

1. Always hit the button

2. Theatre is about giving

3. Never forget to tell the story
